Every now and then when I or a user runs a Cognos report we get the following error:
An error occurred while performing operation ‘sqlPrepareWithOptions’ status=’-121′.
Description:
UDA-SQL-0564 [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server]Deferred prepare could not be completed. UDA-SQL-0564 [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server]Connection failure (SQLSTATE=08S01, SQLERRORCODE=0) RQP-DEF-0149
Up until today I always had to reboot the Cognos server to resolve this issue. But I found that if you restart the IBM Cognos 8 Service within the IBM Cognos Configuration, it also fixes the problem. I hope this assists you if you also get this error popping up every now and then.
